Safari North Wildlife Park

We love seeing animals in their natural surroundings in the wild.  We have even made special trips into the wilderness to see less common wildlife, like moose.   Usually we don’t make a habit of going to zoos, but for Father’s Day we decided to take our parents to Safari North Wildlife Park.  We were amazed with the experience and the size of the park. The park was a lot bigger than we initially thought.  We planned to spend about three hours, but we could’ve spent a good chunk of the day there.

What’s in the park

The whitetail deer enclosure was a lot of fun to walk through.   They have whitetail deer including some albino deer.  You can walk into the enclosed area and the deer can literally walk right up to you. Allowing you to have a unique up-close experience with them.   A popular and fun feature at the park is feeding the giraffes a handful of carrots.  Watch out for the giraffes as they might try to lick you.  We didn’t get the chance to ride the camels or step into the parakeet enclosure, but they were also very popular with the kids.  There is also a lot of local wildlife like raccoons, wolves, coyotes, bears, and more.  About half of the park has less common animals from other parts of the world including Siberian tigers, grizzly bears, lemurs, and many more.

The fence around the animals acts as a safety barrier to protect the animals as well as people.  The down side of the fence is that it doesn’t allow for good pictures to be taken of the individual animals.  There is also a petting zoo which gives kids a chance to get up-close and feed the animals if they want to.   Our overall experience at the park was a lot of fun and definitely worth the trip!
